The main reasons for anxiety or depression are our higher expectations and our past experiences. Our monkey mind always tend to be in the past or future which is the cause of all these troubles.
Just like the sky scrappers need a tough foundation with the highest bearing capacity, so our minds. I would definitely not recommend meditation with the mentioned problems at this stage. Disturbed mind is not at all suitable for meditation. You need to bring in the balance and should let go.
Attending knowledge sessions related to the mentioned problems or taking some professional help to understand the root causes will help us get onto the track. Then slowly we can start with little bit of yoga, pranayama, massage therapies, Reiki kind of treatments, Visiting some beautiful places, holy places, spending good time with nature etc., These things will help overcome anxiety and depression kind of problems.
When we feel comfortable, we can slowly start with basic meditations under the guidance of an experienced teacher/meditator. With consistent and guided practice, we can definitely work towards achieving the goal. Ultimate Bliss.
